The city of La Crosse might just need some tech upgrades.

City council member David Marshall suspects that may be a finding of a potential audit of the city’s parks and rec. department.

Marshall says there are software upgrades the city could make now to better track finances, especially donations to certain projects, and the audit might show where current technology doesn’t keep the city up to date those financial issues.

“There’s instruments now, software, that we can redo the way that we do finances so that we can actually track where different money has come from,” Marshall said.

Marshall is among a group of city council members calling for an audit of the department.

The city council votes next month on spending up to $30,000 on an external audit.
