La Crosse’s 65-acre “Mobil Oil” site in final negotiations with developer
Agreement could be in place by end of 2017
There is hope in La Crosse for making progress soon on development for a key track of land.
That vast swath north of Riverside Park. The old Mobil Oil site.
Final negotiations are in the works with a master developer for the site. It’s a new developer but a plan that’s been in the works for awhile, says the city’s Andrea Schnick.
“So it’s a lot of housing, a lot of residential but also commercial and a lot of office space as well,” she said.
The master developer will move the project forward while referencing a master plan put together a few years ago. Schnick said the master developer may tweak that plan to suit the current real economic climate.
“Looking at the way that the market has changed since that was done, that’ll be part of the master developers job as well,” Schnick said.
Schnick hopes to have a development agreement in place by the end of this year.
The 65-acre site is considered a potential monumental economic game changer for the city.
