Gundersen recognized for men in nursing
Second year La Crosse hospital has been honored by AAMN
For the second consecutive year, Gundersen Health System in La Crosse has been recognized for being the best workplace for men in nursing.
The award was given by the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN).
Gundersen nurse educator Paul Larson says the demographics of nursing is starting to change.
“Most young men don’t grow up and think they’re going to be a nurse but culture changes,” Larson said. “We’re seeing nursing schools working really hard to recruit men. And we’re also seeing an increase a number of men going into nursing as second careers.”
Larson added that there are specific efforts made by Gundersen’s recruiting department to target men for nursing positions.
