Questions still surround future of La Crosse’s municipal boat harbor
Nearly $2 million in renovations still expected
There are some things still not sorted out at the La Crosse municipal boat harbor.
A sale of docks and other equipment at the harbor has been approved by a bankruptcy court but the plan from La Crosse city hall is still to clear them out and fully renovate the harbor by the start of next season.
The city council has committed $1.8 million to that but WIZM talked to slip renters, who worry the work won’t get done by summer.
There’s some disagreement about what the harbor will look like when the renovations are done and whether an on-site shop will be part of the plans.
Then there’s the question of management. For 40 years, it was Steve Mills. He’s been evicted and the city hasn’t named a new operator.
Parks superintendent Jay Odegaard said that while the “issue has not been resolved,” they “are working through things as quickly as possible.”
