Evictions at La Crosse’s boat harbor
City won’t permit boats at docks or in water this winter
Eviction notices have been served to those who still have boats in the water at the La Crosse’s municipal boat harbor.
A letter dated Nov. 2 (shown below) and taped to boats says owners have 30 days to remove their boats from the harbor.
The eviction notice from the owners of docks on behalf of the city also states, “city will not permit any boats to be docked or kept in the water this winter.”
This comes just days after the docks were purchased through bankruptcy proceedings involving former harbor operator, Steve Mills.
A few dozen boats — some longer than 50 feet — remain in the water at the harbor. It’s not clear what the city will do if owners do not comply with eviction notices within the 30 days.
