Gov. Walker is campaigning in Onalaska at 8:40 a.m. Monday

While Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker stops in Onalaska at 8:40 a.m. Monday morning for a campaign rally, the Democrats will hold one of their own tonight.

A forum from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Brickhouse in downtown La Crosse could feature eight Democratic candidates or representatives of those running for governor in Wisconsin.

And that’s not even all of those who have registered to run in the party’s nomination.

It’s a big crowd, admits La Crosse County Democratic Party co-chair, J.D. Wine.

“A lot of people are going to be completely lost as to who they’re supposed to be considering here with all the voices hollering,” he said. “The vote’s going to be split so great – diluted between all the other candidates. Somebody with 12 percent’s going to take it.”

So far, over 60 say they’re going to attend according to the Facebook events page.

Wine thinks there might be too many in the running, as 10 have signed up. On the other hand, Wine says he appreciates the interest and thinks it’s “a sign that Walker’s considered weak.”

Tonight’s forum is by a group called Our Wisconsin Revolution. The group says it supports candidates for office who align with Senator Bernie Sanders’ vision.

The group vows to “take all levels of Wisconsin government back from elites.”
