Group still needs to fill plenty of volunteer shifts
Another sign of the Christmas season can be seen at several stores around La Crosse, as the Red Kettle Campaign has begun.
The Salvation Army kicked off the event on Saturday. Among those volunteering was was La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat.
The La Crosse Salvation Army says 68 percent of shifts for bell ringing remain open.
The group has set a lofty goal of raising $949,500.
“Through the course of the next several weeks, as we lead up to Christmas, the community steps up and gives a lot,” Kabat said while at Festival Foods ringing bells.
The funds raised goes to help the Salvation Army provide services to those in need, including programs like the emergency shelter and Coats for Kids.
