Christmas light display begins for 23rd year

One of La Crosse’s newer community celebrations had a slightly soggy start on Friday.

Santa Claus threw the switch to signal fireworks in Pettibone Park, and turn on the Rotary Lights display in Riverside Park.

Santa rode to the park as usual in the holiday parade which traveled through downtown.

La Crosse had record-setting warm weather for November 24th on Friday, and rain held off until just before the brief lighting ceremony at the Riverside bandshell.

The 3 million light spectacle continues every night through New Year’s Eve.
