High school education assistant facing multiple charges of assault, abuse.

Holmen high school educational assistant Timothy Schilling has been arrested and faces charges for child sexual assault and abuse.

In a letter to parents dated Monday, Holmen district administrator, Kristin Mueller said the 47-year-old Schilling has been placed on unpaid leave and his continued employment with the school district is under review.

Mueller said in her letter, while the district is answering student questions related to the arrest “in a responsible way,” the district is also treating the arrest as a confidential personnel matter.  Because of that and in an effort to not compromise the criminal investigation, Mueller said, “there may be certain details that school district staff are not able to discuss with students.”

Mueller said Schilling is also not allowed on school property or to have contact with students in the district.

Schilling was arrested on Monday and remains in La Crosse county jail.

He faces felony charges of 1st degree sexual assault of a child, repeated 1st degree sexual assault of same child, and child abuse-intentionally causing harm.

Details of the charges have not yet been made available.
