Gundersen unveils plans for new comprehensive cancer center in Tomah
TOMAH, Wis. — As part of the brand new Gundersen Health System clinic being built in Tomah, it will include a comprehensive cancer center.
Construction will begin on the 5,200-square-foot center in the spring, Gundersen CEO Scott Rathgaber announced Thursday.
One hundred Gundersen patients from the Tomah area had radiation treatments done in La Crosse last year.
Oncologist Dr. Kurt Oettle said he had a patient two weeks ago refuse surgery because of the hardships from traveling.
Oettel said the center will include things like chemo and radiation therapy, along with imaging technology.
The clinic will open in 2019.
