City aiming to double fee in underground parking at Market Square ramp

Big parking fee increases are on the way for some who use La Crosse parking ramps.

The city plans to increase monthly parking fees in the secured basement parking at the Market Square Ramp at the first of the year.

The cost will jump from $55 per month to $75. And, that is not the last increase, either.

Next year, the plan is to increase the fee to an $100.

City parking utility coordinator Jim Flottmeyer said the low current fee for parking in the secure, heated spots in Market Square is just silly.

No other parking ramp fees will be impacted by the increase.

La Crosse police chief Ron Tischer said it was too good of a deal, as well. He said it was ridiculously low and wanted the fee doubled.
