WATCH: La Crosse Congressman Kind rails against GOP tax bill
Tax reform was approved last night, largely along party lines, marking the first major legislative victory for President Donald Trump.
Wisconsin legislators were split on the issue. Congressman Ron Kind spoke against it Tuesday.
“You’re pitting a hastily written bill,” Kind said from the House floor, “drafted without one hearing, considered without feedback from people back home, without proper vetting, all over the course of a few short weeks, against some of the smartest accountants and tax attorneys that money can buy.”
Just voted against the #taxbill. This bill will increase taxes on millions of Americans, add $2 trillion in debt and put future of Social Security and Medicare at risk. Bad for Wisconsinites!

The La Crosse Democrat also threw in a joke during his rant.
“I’m very concerned about many of my fiscally conservative friends across the aisle,” Kind said. “So I offered an amendment that would have expanded the endangered species list to include fiscally conservative Republicans, because you’re about to go extinct.”
Trump is expected to sign the tax bill later this week.
