Street crew ready for snow in La Crosse

A chance of about 2.5 inches of snow today in the La Crosse area, but it’s not the white stuff that’s concerning La Crosse street supervisor Mike LaFleur.

“The big concern for us right now, for this next system that’s coming through is the freezing rain,” LaFleur said. “That’s more difficult to plan and maintain, than snow.”

LaFleur said since they make their own salt, they normally don’t have any concerns of running out in case of a busy season.

And, as for the winter season itself, LaFleur said they’ve been prepared for awhile now, though it was busy few weeks.

“We have kind of a mad rush between leaf season and getting the trucks ready to plow, ready for winter use,” he said. “It takes awhile. It’s hectic.”
