REMINDER: Shovel your snow or pay, pay, pay the city

There is not really much snow to speak of yet in La Crosse but it’s bound to come. When it does, the city warns to be ready.

Ready, in order to avoid the fines and fees that comes from violating the city’s snow shoveling rules.

Residents will be billed hundreds of dollars at a time by the city for not having their walks cleared on a timely basis. Specifically, 24 hours after the snow stops falling.

Typically, the city charges $2.50 per foot plus a $50 administrative fee and a possible ticket, which ranges between $75-100.

Generally, it’s complaints that will send crews to properties with walks that haven’t been cleared.

Rentals tend to receive most of the snow-clearing bills every year in the city.
