Even nasty state roads in La Crosse could get some attention from city hall this year, according to Mayor Tim Kabat.

“Kind of the common areas where people are most upset about — La Crosse St., 3rd and 4th streets,” Kabat said Thursday morning on WIZM. “Some of these stretches that are state responsibility but we’re going to try and do some things locally.

“Not, probably, the entire project because that is still the state’s responsilibity but certainly in some spot areas where we can address that.”

A spending plan for 2018 includes millions more in local road fixes than the city has typically spent.

Neither La Crosse St, nor 3rd and 4th streets appear to be on any current Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation schedule for repairs.
