Homeless collaborative’s latest effort will meet success goals and then some
Work by a group in La Crosse to find homes for families without, will more than meet its mark.
Julie McDermid, from the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness, told WIZM an announcement of success about the its goal to house ten homeless families by the end of this month is expected soon. In fact, the group is actually doing better than that.
“Actually we’ll have gone over 10,” McDermid said. “Before the end of the month, we will probably house a few more families, as well.”
“It’s gone very smoothly. We’ve had a lot of different agencies involved, providing all kinds of support to the families.”
Those families are ones who were basically living in shelters McDermid added.
The group is at nine right now and expects No. 10 over the next week, along with more to come throughout January.
This is the third such project undertaken by the collaborative which has already tackled goals of finding permanent places to live for all homeless vets in La Crosse and all of the chronically homeless as well.
