Committee votes today on final plans for Highway 53 corridor into La Crosse
A concept from more than a year ago is about to turn into a full-fledged plan for the city of La Crosse’s northside.
The city’s Hwy. 53 steering committee meets today to vote on a final draft for a comprehensive plan for the stretch of 53 from I-90 Exit 3 to the La Crosse River.
“The steering committee itself is made up a lot of stakeholders on the north side, north side council members,” Tim Acklin, from the city’s planning department, said. “The opportunity they see coming up in this plan (does) greatly excite them.”
The plan still needs approval from the city council. Some of the things it addresses includes land use, transportation and economic development of much of the north side.
The plan will also include a rehabilitation of a city park and the Bridgeview Plaza Shopping Center.
