The economy is a mess and it’s generally the fault of Republicans, according to Ron Kind.

The La Crosse Congressman blasted Treasury Sec. Steve Mnuchin in a hearing Thursday afternoon. Kind said the people were misled about priorities of the tax bill.

“We’d shut down egregious loopholes,” Kind said. “That clearly wasn’t the case.

“We ended up with a taxcut bill where 83 percent of the benefit goes to the wealthiest 1 percent. The $1.5 trillion was not offset.”

Kind also implored Mnuchin let Trump know he can’t go after Social Security and Medicare.

“We are not in a position to make a huge fiscal mistake,” Kind said. “Not with 70 million baby boomers beginning massive retirements — 10,000 a day — joining Medicare and Social Security.

Kind says with how the Trump administration has acted in the first year of office, a new economic downfall is on the way.
