La Crosse committee approves food truck fire inspections
Food trucks are a step closer to needing another once over in La Crosse.
A city council committee on Tuesday voted on adding a fire inspection to the approvals food trucks need to operate in the city.
If that seems unnecessary, La Crosse assistant fire chief, Craig Snyder, would argue the opposite.
“There’s been issues across the country in the last 4-5 years in which we’ve had some catastrophic-type explosions and
failures in these food trucks,” Snyder said, adding that several cities in Wisconsin already require fire inspections for food trucks.
The full city council will have to agree to the inspections next week. Meanwhile, a separate council committee votes tomorrow on establishing a $50 fee for the food truck inspection.
