Fest button for this year is based on lederhosen design

If you’ve had enough of this winter, try thinking about…falling leaves.

And beer, and lederhosen.

The first official event of the 2018 Oktoberfest has been held in La Crosse, with the unveiling of the design for the fest button.

The round beer belly of a lederhosen-wearing festgoer fills the circular button, along with a pretzel and a beer mug.

The button was drawn by artist Kyle Breunig from Holmen, in his first attempt to enter the design contest.

Breunig revealed the design on Thursday, along with reigning Festmaster Brian Rude, who suggests it’s never too early to get in the mood for the fest.

It was unveilied publicly at the Forks and Corks fundraiser in the La Crosse Center ballroom.

The 58th Oktoberfest is scheduled for the last four days of September.
