Sparta teacher charged with sexually assaulting high school student

SPARTA, Wis. — A middle school teacher from Bangor has posted a cash bond in Monroe County, after she appeared in court on charges of having sex with a 17-year-old boy. 

Alexis Mashak faces four separate sex-related counts involving a minor. The 27-year-old is a physical education teacher at a Meadowview Middle School in Sparta, and, reportedly, met the boy at the Boys and Girls Club where they both work.

Surveillance video from the Sparta Barney Family Community Center shows the two kissing. That led to a police investigation Monday.

Investigators say the instances of sexual contact between the teacher and the Sparta High School student began in November and continued until this week.

Police say the two admitted to having sexual encounters at his house, in his car and at a community center in Sparta. They also exchanged nude photos.

Mashak is free on a $1,000 cash bond. She is ordered not to have contact with the student or anyone else younger than 18.
