A cold case finally going to court, 17 years ago

In 2001, Michael Vernio agreed to be transported from Rochester, Minnesota to Trempeleau County, to face charges in a 1997 murder.  Vernio was considered a suspect in the shooting death of 74-year-old Aloyzie Przybilla.  Investigators said Vernio’s ex-girlfriend recalled that Vernio wanted to rob Przybilla’s home, and admitted to shooting him there.  Vernio was acquitted of murder and burglary, but was found guilty of conspiring to commit robbery and burglary.

The Onalaska Library Commission was busy trying to decide whether the new public library building, just over a decade old, needed to be expanded because of heavy demand.  The commission was asking the Onalaska Historical Society to move out of the library by the following May.

Leithold Music and Ross Furniture in La Crosse were holding a joint sale on grand pianos at the Ross showroom on State Street…now the Charmant Hotel.  Used grand pianos were priced as low as $3500, but a new Yamaha baby grand could be had for just under $13,000.  That was 17 years ago, 2001, yesterday in La Crosse.

    You’re an idiot with LOTS of misinformation Vernio was paroled in May of 2012 if you’re going to print a story get the damn facts straight

    You’re an idiot and a poor excuse for a journalist if you had ANY common sense you’d know me vernio was paroled in 2012 and is currently seeking restitution in the case and defamation of his name and why is that you or any other so called journalist bothered to get the full story ie mr Vernio’s side of it?! I’ll tell you why racist journalism and gay ass reporting
