Reactions after Gov. Walker finally calls for special elections
Oh, never mind.
After a week of resistance to a court order for special elections in Wisconsin, Governor Scott Walker gave in and called for the two elections — four months after the legislative vacancies occurred.
The change left Assembly Democrats with a weekly radio address attacking Walker for not doing something he had suddenly decided to do after all.
La Crosse Democrat Jennifer Shilling, the Senate minority leader, said justice has prevailed. “Republicans can’t ignore the law,” Shilling said after the governor finally called for the special elections.
“We stand for American values,” Riemer said during the radio address. “We remain committed to ensuring that, regardless of political affiliation, the people of wisconsin are represented in the state capitol.”
On the other hand, a spokesman for Republican Senator Leah Vukmir said the special elections are still unnecessary, and claimed ‘all logical thought processes fail to exist” among the judges who ordered the elections.
