Spring elections in La Crosse County take place on Tuesday.

Usually, they only bring a 20 percent turnout.

“I think the turnouts gonna be a little bit higher,” La Crosse County clerk Ginny Dankmeyer said. “. I think people are energized to get out right now.

“I think we’re gonna be closer to a 25 percent turnout.”

Dankmeyer added that voters might be interested this spring, partly as a result of the student-led demonstrations against gun violence following the school shooting in Florida.

A state Supreme Court race and a special election for county treasurer will be on the ballot.
