Holmen woman faces fifth OWI after driving through Onalaska barricade Saturday
After driving through a barricade onto a closed road Saturday, a Holmen woman was asked if she had been drinking too much.
Her reply, “Oh my God, yeah.”
Carmen Thienes is now facing her fifth drunk-driving charge and a possible 10 years in prison if she’s found guilty.
The 54-year-old’s fourth OWI conviction was in December of 2017.
Xcel Energy had blocked off part of Main Street in Onalaska on Saturday to work on a power line.
An Xcel employee saw Thienes drive past the barricade and then try to run before police stopped her.
Upon talking to police, Thienes at one point said, “Can we just go? Arrest me.”
