George Street bridge repairs will cut traffic to one lane each way beginning Monday

Expect a few traffic snarls in La Crosse this morning.

Crews will begin repairs on the George Street bridge on the city’s northside.

The city says, starting at 9 a.m., traffic will be down to one lane in either direction over the bridge.

Last Month, the city’s public works board determined the bridge that goes over Canadian Pacific tracks needed emergency repairs.

Still safe, said the city, but the emergency declaration means needed repairs can get the bridge done faster. 

The bridge repairs are expected to be finished on April 20.
