Hindu call for Kohl’s to pull Ganesh pillow from shelves
Hindus are apparently upset with a Wisconsin-based retailer over a throw pillow.
In a statement released on Monday, Rajan Zed, President of Universal Society of Hinduism, has called for Menomenee Falls-headquartered Kohl’s to pull a pillow that bears an image of the Hindu god Ganesh.
Zed says essentially the pillow is in poor taste and trivializes the world’s third largest religion. He says Ganesh was meant to be worshipped in temples, not tossed on a chair and sat on.
The Ganesh pillows currently appear to be out of stock on the Kohl’s website.
Zed has also called for a formal apology from the company’s CEO.
This is not the first time Zed has protested the commercialization of Hinduism on behalf of the entire religion.
The priest has also led fight against Amazon over leggings, Converse over shoes and Selena Gomez for a performance the pop star gave at the MTV awards two years ago.
