$29,000 in grant money given to La Crosse educators for class projects
Twice a year, the La Crosse Public Education Foundation picks out projects to support financially.
This semester, 15 grants were given out for a total of $29,000
Executive Director David Stoeffler says it’s an important part of their mission to better the education of kids.
“We try to encourage innovative ideas and programs throughout the district. We’re looking to provide those extras that teachers aren’t able to address through the regular school budget.”
There were 28 applications put in with over $100,000 requested.
Stoeffler says, “They ranged from money for hardware that would allow a teacher to use virtual reality in some class projects, to $361 for purchasing story cards and wordless books that would help kids with disabilities at Logan Middle School.”
In total, $70,000 was awarded to teachers this year.
