New study group starts 2-year mission to help avoid drug deaths

 
An epidemic of fatal overdoses in Wisconsin has led to the formation of special teams, to find ways of stopping overdoses before they happen. 

One of the state-funded overdose teams has been formed in La Crosse County. 

Al Bliss with the county’s existing heroin task force says one trouble area to be addressed is helping county prisoners avoid drugs when they’re released from jail, because in jail, they’re vulnerable and are kept away from drugs.
 
Bliss says one easy remedy might be to increase the availability of the antidote Narcan. 

A more complex solution could involve additional First Responders working in the county.
