Bike and scooter share system aimed at UW-La Crosse will get evaluation by city committees
Orange bikes could be all over the city of La Crosse and the UW-La Crosse campus soon.
The bike and scooter share company Spin and its orange rides plans a partnership with UW-La Crosse.
The city could enter into an agreement with the company as well.
It’s not the type of bike share system that uses docking stations. Instead, you unlock a bike by scanning it with your phone, track it through GPS, and leave it where it is whenever you reach your destination.
Bike share has been studied by the city for feasibility and is part of the bicycle and pedestrian master plan that was approved in 2012.
The city’s bike and pedestrian committee will take a look at the bike share agreement in a meeting next week.
Spin’s ride share would come at no cost to UW-L or the city.
