Council and Center Board rep. gives assurances La Crosse Center will turn out well

Early reviews of what the La Crosse Center will eventually look like haven’t necessarily been glowing.

City council member Jessica Olson, who represents the council on the La Crosse Center Board, urges patience.

“This is not going to be some spaceship white block wrapped in metal rebar like some of the renderings look like,” Olson said. “I just want to assure everybody that we will respect the river and the beauty of the Mississippi that we’re blessed with there. That’s certainly not something that’s being overlooked.”

Olson and the rest of the city council just voted to delay picking a final design on the Center for another two months.

“The La Crosse Center Board will take utmost care and concern in how this design concept moves forward and what we end up with there,” Olson said.

She invites the public to get more involved in the $49 million renovation plans by attending La Crosse Center Board meetings.
