La Crosse students’ art featured at Pump House

The exhibit at the Pump House Regional Arts Center in La Crosse is impressive.

Then you realize the art was created from high school students at both Logan and Central and it becomes that much more impressive.

Over 50 students from the two schools have showcased their art, which include paintings, sculptures, prints and digital media. It’s on display until May 19.

Having their work displayed at the Pump House means so much to the students.

“I always see their faces light up when they actually see their work matted and framed,” said Lori Aschenbrener, the art teacher that helped students get their pieces featured at the center. “It just elevates the professionalism and gives it worth.”

She added that many dedicated several hours both in and out of class to complete their work.

Born in Decorah Iowa. I've been a news reporter for the last 10 years, starting right out of college in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Other professional opportunities led me to Marshalltown, Iowa and Antigo Wisconsin, before I finally was afforded the opportunity here in La Crosse. I've been here since 2016.
