Deja vu at Crosby Stills Nash and Young show

It is appropriate that Friday’s Crosby Stills Nash and Young tribute concert proved a case of Déjà vu. The show was a fundraiser, and it reminded me how tight knit this community is. Among the musicians taking part, my former neighbor Hans Mayer. On drums, Terry Nirva, whose former house I now live in. On bass, Larry Dalton, former boss of an old friend of mine. Dan Sebranek of String Ties is a frequent visitor to our studios to perform holiday songs each Christmas season. But the connections don’t end there. The emcee for the event was Greg Mitchell, former owner of Sound World, whose business advertised with our stations for many years. Greg organized the event to raise money for the YMCA’s Livestrong program, which helps cancer survivors regain physical health. Greg is a proud graduate of that program. And his coach on that road to health was my God Daughter, Rachel La Valley, who works tirelessly with Livestrong patients. The wonderful show raised much needed money for that excellent program, but also served as a reminder that sometimes living in La Crosse is much like the Kevin Bacon Six Degrees of Separation. And when these good people come together to do such good work, that is always a good thing.
