Naming rights still on the table as means to fill funding gaps for La Crosse Center renovation

Selling some naming rights for the La Crosse Center’s massive renovation is still an option.

How it’s done is still up in the air.

That, according to Jessica Olson, who represents the city council on the La Crosse Center Board.

Olson On WIZM Monday morning with Mike Hayes said she’s not convinced marketing all the naming rights at once will net the project the most cash — but it remains an important funding option.

“I’m not necessarily personally convinced that putting naming rights on the table all at the same time,” she said. “Definitely naming of the ballroom area is something we’re looking to bridge that financial gap of funding.”

During a meeting Monday, the Center Board discussed naming rights and how they may work to offset some of the cost of the $49 million expansion.

Olson also repeated her calls for more public engagement with the board in the planning process.
