La Crosse man gets probation for role in kidnapping, attack and theft
A kidnapping charge was dropped, as a La Crosse man pleaded guilty to what police believe was a revenge burglary. 
Dariyah Engram was one of four suspects accused of plotting to force Nathan Juran into an SUV, take him to his north side residence and steal property from him. Property that Juran was accused of taking from the SUV driver.
Engram reached a negotiated plea on charges of trespassing and battery. The 20-year-old will serve one year probation for allegedly going to a suspected thief’s home after forcing him into an SUV.
Engram told police he coerced the victim into the vehicle and admitted punching him, according to the original report.
Another man, James Wilson, has a plea scheduled later in May.
The woman accused of setting up Juran for the attack, Alexis Oja, goes on trial in October. A second woman is being sought by police after skipping a court appearance.
Engram said in court Wednesday he already lost two jobs for being arrested on criminal charges.
“It’s one of those situations where you cannot do that,” Judge Elliot Levine told Engram. “That’s what police are there for. We don’t want people to enforce the law themselves.”
Engram told the court he’s a ‘really good kid’ who regretted taking part in an apparent kidnapping attempt.
