Council appropriates money for plumbing and excess boat disposal costs at harbor
The city of La Crosse has moved a couple more steps forward for the municipal boat harbor’s renovation completion.
The harbor at Isle la Plume has been under construction since the fall when the city booted the last harbor manager, took over the operation and started a massive renovation.
New docks have been in for months and boats are steadily mooring there.
Thursday night, the city council approved an additional $254,769.81 for the project to deal with excess costs associated mostly to the challenge of dealing with abandoned boats there.
The council also approved a bid for a plumbing system at the harbor for $168,000.
So far, the harbor project has gone over the $2 million mark with no plans for a gas dock, store or restaurant — although there might be restrooms and showers at the harbor by the end of the summer.
The electrical system had already been turned on for the new docks.
