More murals proposed for public sites in La Crosse

Artist Landon Sheely is just about set to paint three colorful figures on the wall of the downtown La Crosse Main Street parking ramp, facing southbound traffic on 3rd Street.

Weidenbach says word of the ‘Helping Hands’ project has led to proposals for other public paintings around the city.

“Downtown Mainstreet has been thinking about murals in locations downtown,” he said. “We’ve had a couple different presentations to the art board about murals on the lower north side.”

Sheely is scheduled to be paint his mural sometime in June. The city still has to arrange for a lift, to allow the artist to paint the three-story work of art on the ramp wall.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
