Weekend crash sends 5 from La Crosse to hospital, including 3 kids
Five people from La Crosse, including three children, were hurt in a weekend collision on Highway 61 in La Crescent.
Those five were headed southbound on 61 Saturday afternoon in a Kia when a Nissan crossed into their path.
The driver of the Kia, Jesse Schumacher of La Crosse, went to Gundersen along with his four passengers — all had minor injuries.
The children are ages 3 through 15.
The two people in the Nissan were from La Crescent and were not hurt.
Another crash in the De Soto area led to one man being taken to a La Crosse hospital.
On Saturday night, a UTV went out of control on Holt Road in the town of Wheatland, and went down an embankment before hitting a tree.
The driver and a front-seat passenger — both from Illinois — did not need medical treatment
A De Soto man, however, 33-year-old Kenneth Hanson, was thrown from the outside of the UTV and hit his head on a tree.
Hanson was taken by ambulance to Gundersen in La Crosse and released a few hours later.
