La Crosse man facing drug trafficking charges

A La Crosse drug suspect with a long court record is now being charged with drug  trafficking, along with possessing and delivering dangerous drugs.

Bond for 44-year-old Lonell Powers has been set at $20,000.

Powers was jailed over the weekend for allegedly possessing and delivering meth and ‘bath salts.’

A February search of Powers’ home in south La Crosse also turned up heroin, prescription drugs and Narcan.

Shortly before that search, a police informant went to the Powers house and came out 10 minutes later with a bag of meth, bought for $200.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk."
