More decorated bird statues placed on display for summer

La Crosse’s heron statues have all arrived at their summer nesting place on the Main Street walkway, just north of the Radisson in downtown La Crosse.

Nine more of the large painted birds were installed on Friday, so 20 heron statues are now on display next to the hotel parking lot through late September.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of when the herons were introduced at several locations around the city.

The Main Street “flock” marks the first time since then that all of the statues, except one, are on public display as a group.
