Singer and musician Bill Miller returned to a hometown crowd in La Crosse, launching a new season of Moon Tunes concerts at Riverside Park.

The Grammy winner kicked off the first Thursday of Moon Tunes, which will run 12 more shows this summer to be presented free at the park bandshell.

Emcee Marty Severson told last night’s audience that the bandshell could look a little different next summer.

“It looks like ,hopefully next year, with the opening of moon tunes, we’ll be standing in a new and refurbished bandshell,” he said. “The money’s going to go to primarily to help put in a professional, all-weather sound system, to my understanding.”

About $75,000 has been raised by concert goers and other donors to finance bandshell improvements.
