La Crosse Senator speaks of hearts, and tariffs, at local fire station

Not just once, but twice.

State Senator Jennifer Shilling of La Crosse has been named a “Friend of Heart” by the American Heart Association for the second time.

Shilling accepted the new award Monday at Fire Station #1 in La Crosse.

One recent heart-related bill that Shilling fought for makes it easier for people in Wisconsin to be able to perform life-saving CPR, while a second bill gives participants in Food Share programs new incentives to buy healthy food for their families.

During the fire station visit, Shilling also said Harley-Davidson could be setting an example for other American companies, by moving some motorcycle production out of the U.S. to avoid tariffs.

Shilling told La Crosse reporters that the tariff dispute could have a detrimental effect on Harley and other state industries.
