La Crosse schools included in the latest round of state safety grants
The La Crosse school district is on the latest list of those collecting grants from the state for improving security.
The Attorney General’s office has announced the latest round of school security grants, totalling about $10.2 million.
The grants will be used for improvements like improving visitor identification systems, adding shatter resistant film to windows and upgrading communication systems.
La Crosse was among 147 schools and districts in the latest round of grants.
The district will receive $266,373 in grants.
The funding is part of the $100 million approved by lawmakers earlier this year for school security improvements in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high in Parkland, Flordia.
