Ash tree removal process in La Crosse almost complete
At one time there were thousands of ash trees within the city of La Crosse but now it’s down to just a few hundred.
About 100 on south side and 200 on the north side — ash trees that need to be removed because of the Emerald Ash Borer infestation that struck the city just a few years ago.
Those remaining ash trees will be removed by Labor Day, is the word from the city this week. After those are gone, crews will do a sweep of the city to make sure they haven’t missed any.
There are also treated trees that have been left on the boulevards that may have to be removed, as well
