“Peaches” gets arrested

Brief jail stay for well-known south La Crosse woman

“Peaches” is now free.

The 50-year-old La Crosse woman, whose real name is Brenda Jackson, called police Friday night saying her brother had assaulted her after she asked him for the money he owed her.

The brother says after he told her he was out, Jackson went into the apartment on 4th Street South where his girlfriend was and smacked her in the head before leaving.

Police said she seemed to be under the influence of drugs and talking to people that weren’t there.

Jackson was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct.

She was verbally combative on the ride to jail and police say she was making threats.

“Peaches” is well-known in the City Brewery neighborhood for her clothing and for performing music on the sidewalk.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area.
