Iowa Sen. Grassley wants cameras in the Supreme Court

We now have President Donald Trump’s selection for Supreme Court to take over for Justice Anthony Kennedy, whose term ends July 31.

But will we ever see them? The banning of cameras to some of the most important court rulings doesn’t make sense to Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley.

“It brings transparency. It brings educational opportunities,” Grassley said. “So, I think it’s about time we have rules mandating cameras in the courtroom, including the Supreme Court here.”

The inability to have cameras looking in on arguments that could possibly change the country doesn’t sit well with Grassley, who says the Supreme Court should be held to the same standard as everyone else when it comes to transparency.

“Congress is televised,” he said. “The president has news conferences often. There’s a lot of misunderstanding about the role of the judicial branch of our government.”

Monday night, Trump selected Brett Kavanaugh to replace Kennedy.
