Coulee Council on Addictions is putting the finishing touches on moving into its new Ferry Street facility.

It’s been just over a year since the group decided on a new building, moving from its West Avenue location in La Crosse, where it was since 1979.

Monday will be the second week in the new place. Director Cheryl Hancock realizes it took a lot of moving parts to make it a reality.

“We did as much as we could, and made tweaks, to make sure we were being good neighbors and trying to respond to the interests of the individuals of the neighborhood,” Hancock said. “We’ve seen a lot of people through the doors in the first few days.”

Hancock said it’s been a long way from the start of the process in trying to win over the neighborhood, while helping new people coming in.

An official ribbon cutting will be held next month.
