City painting no parking zones yellow again
Those heading to downtown La Crosse may see something on the curbs that hasn’t been there in years — fresh paint.
The city, late last year, settled on a plan to paint curbs again, after a hiatus of more than a decade.
The bright yellow helps avoid confusion, says La Crosse assistant police chief, Rob Abraham.
“Hopefully it will reduce violations,” Abraham said in the WIZM studio this week. “But, also, if someone is in violation, they clearly know it at this point.”
No parking zones are getting painted the familiar bright yellow. Disabled parking spaces will get a fresh coat of blue.
“Right now, though, we’re slowly implentmeing that,” Abraham said. “So the entire downtown area hasn’t been hit. Some of the streets you are starting to see new paint on.”
The process was stopped years ago due to a number of factors, says Abraham, like a lack of workers to actually do the painting.
