PEOPLE FEST: Celebrating culture and diversity Sunday in Riverside Park

A celebration of diversity this Sunday at Riverside Park in La Crosse.

People Fest takes place from 2-7 p.m. and is free to the public. It’s meant to educate and celebrate various cultures of the La Crosse community.

The La Crosse Immigration Task Force, part of the Compassionate Community Faith Alliance, is putting on the event meant for “gathering people of different cultures together for a day of fun, food and learning.” The group hopes the event will “help work toward the goal of becoming a more welcoming community.”

Some of the organizations taking part include the Hmoob Cultural and Community Agency, Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration, African-American Mutual Assistance Network and Church Women United of La Crosse Area.

The city of La Crosse Human Rights Commission and county of La Crosse are among the sponsors.

Six groups will perform on the Riverside Bandshell. Entertainment will include the following:

  • Irish singers
  • Hmong dancers
  • Traditional Mexican dancers
  • Chinese dancers
  • African American Stories
  • Synagogue singers

Food vendors include:

  • Hmong Egg Rolls
  • Taco Town
  • Midwest Bites
  • Ice Cold Refreshments
  • Iguana’s
  • Cloudy’s
  • Wisconsin Ron’s Cheese Curds
