La Crosse welcomes first paddlewheeler of the season

If you go to Riverside Park in La Crosse for the Moon Tunes concert tonight, you’ll get to see the first big paddlewheeler to stop on the riverfront this season. 

The Queen of the Mississippi will be docked at the park until about 6 p.m. 

It’s the first of 20 scheduled visits by the big cruise boats between now and mid-October. 

Two of those boats actually will be together on the waterfront at the same time this weekend. 

The American Queen and American Duchess both are expected to dock at the park between noon and 5 p.m. on Saturday. 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
